Privacy policy

The short version: the address you type is sent to public mapping and federal services so we can compute your score. We do not sell it. We do not require an account. Detail below.
What happens to the address you enter
When you type an address, it is transmitted to third-party services in order to convert it into coordinates and then score it. Specifically:
- Address suggestions — partial text is sent to an address search provider (currently Photon, operated on OpenStreetMap data) as you type.
- Geocoding — the completed address is sent to the US Census Bureau geocoding service to obtain coordinates.
- Scoring — the resulting coordinates, not the street address, are sent to FEMA, NIFC, USGS and the National Weather Service to retrieve the hazard, fire history, terrain and weather values behind your score.
- Maps — map tiles are requested from CARTO, which receives your IP address as part of any ordinary web request.
These services operate under their own privacy policies, which we do not control. Your address is processed to answer your query; we do not sell it, rent it, or pass it to data brokers.
What we store
Nothing. There is no account, no email field and no login anywhere on this site. We do not store the addresses you look up, we do not keep your risk scores, and we do not build a profile of you from your searches.
The structure self-assessment on a risk report runs entirely in your browser. Your answers are never transmitted to us and are gone the moment you close the tab.
Analytics and cookies
We keep analytics deliberately minimal. We measure which pages are visited and roughly where traffic comes from, so we know which datasets and guides are worth maintaining. We do not use advertising cookies, we do not build cross-site profiles, and we do not sell or share analytics data with advertising networks.
Where we are required to ask consent for non-essential cookies, we ask before setting them. Declining does not reduce what the site does — the risk lookup and the maps work the same either way.
Affiliate links
Some outbound links earn us a commission. Following one may allow that merchant or network to set a cookie identifying that you arrived from here, so the commission can be attributed. We label such links where they appear, and they never affect your score or where a result is placed.
Children
This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. In practice we hold nothing to return: the site has no accounts and stores no addresses or scores. If you have emailed us, we hold that correspondence and will delete it on request.

Security
The site is served over HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, and we hold deliberately little — the best protection for data is not collecting it.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date above. If we ever add a feature that collects personal data — an email alert service, for instance — this page will say so before it launches, not after.

Wildfirely operates this site and decides how the information described above is handled. For any question about your data, a correction, or a deletion request, write to contact@wildfirely.com and a person will answer. If you need our registered details for a formal request, ask and we will provide them.
